Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) – such as tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and sprains and strains – are complex and affect nearly one-quarter of the global population. In June 2022, NSC unveiled the groundbreaking MSD Pledge from the MSD Solutions Lab to spur a global employer-led movement to create safer, more ergonomic workplaces and reduce MSD risks and subsequent injuries.
The MSD Pledge calls on organizations to commit to reducing MSD risks for millions of workers worldwide by:
To date, more than 250 organizations – representing about 3 million employees across every major global continent – have joined this effort. Check out the current list of Pledgees.
To take the Pledge, you will need to supply some information about your current workplace safety efforts, general demographic information about your organization and a virtual signature from an organization representative, likely a safety and health leader or an employee from upper management. It takes about 10 minutes to take the Pledge.
By signing the MSD Pledge, you join a community of organizations dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of all employees. It’s not only the right thing to do, but MSD prevention also helps protect your bottom line. Research shows, every dollar spent on prevention generates twice the return or more.
MSD Pledge members receive exclusive access to resources and support to implement and sustain workplace MSD prevention efforts, including:
At NSC, our role is to help guide every employer toward a safer workplace, no matter if they are a multi-national corporation or a small, family-owned store. We are proud to advance this commitment through initiatives like the MSD Pledge, which better positions us to address MSD risks across different industries, jobs and demographics.
