Answering the call to promote the profession, National Safety Council is helping grow engagement with students and student members — in part through the award of travel grants, cash scholarships or tuition coverage for NSC Advanced Safety Certificate eligible courses.
Nominations are now being accepted for the Dotson Safety Leadership Award. The award recognizes one exceptional certified safety professional under age 40 who is shaping the future of workplace safety through leadership, innovation and ethical excellence. Established through the Kyle B. Dotson Endowment, this $10,000 award honors a mid-career professional making significant impact in the field who is ready to lead at the next level. The recipients will receive national recognition and access to NSC events and professional development opportunities. Nominations must be submitted by May 31, 2026.
The Advanced Safety Certificate® Scholarship for Veterans supports U.S. military veterans at every stage of their safety career. Whether transitioning into environmental, health and safety or advancing as a current safety professional, selected scholars receive full funding for the NSC Advanced Safety Certificate, along with national networking and career development opportunities.
Applications are open through May 4, 2026.
Recognizing that safety leaders are critical to ensuring worker health and wellbeing, NSC is committed to building a strong workforce of safety professionals with safety scholarships that expand access to education and support students pursuing degrees in occupational health and safety, or related STEM fields and other relevant majors. Scholars receive a $5,000 tuition award and complimentary registration and travel accommodations to attend the NSC Safety Congress & Expo.

A part of the NSC Safety for All Scholarship program, the Certificate Assistance Program helps support individuals on a safety career path obtain their NSC Advanced Safety Certificate®. Through the ASC program, NSC teaches best practices to those who are transitioning into a safety career or are currently in safety roles within their organization and need additional professional development to create a more proactive process for safety and health. The ASC Scholarship Certificate Assistance program is open through June 15, 2026.
