Immersive Technology Experiences
In-person and virtual events to learn more about technologies to reduce injuries and fatalities at work.
In-person and virtual events to learn more about technologies to reduce injuries and fatalities at work.
Every year, the NSC Safety Technology Pavilion presents a Safety Innovation Challenge showcasing technologies addressing a top risk facing workers today. Safety Innovation Challenge attendees:
● Learn about a pervasive safety issue
● Engage with technology solutions available to solve the risk
● See how to get their company ready to adopt technology
● Learn how to pilot a technology solution
The Safety Innovation Challenge identifies safety and health concerns, challenging organizations and emerging technology providers to identify solutions. This year’s 10 finalists at the 2026 NSC Safety Summit in Baltimore were chosen to highlight emerging technologies that measure, detect or predict fatigue.
Design Interactive: Greenlight mobile-based fatigue monitoring system integrates wearable and smartphone data to support safer performance in high-risk environments
electrocore Inc.: TAC-STIM handheld device stimulates the vagus nerve to reduce fatigue and improve attention and decision making
Impairment Science Inc.: DRUID mobile app uses neuroscience-based tests to assess cognitive and motor impairment for fit-for-duty screening
Innsightful Inc.: Wearable-enabled platform continuously tracks physiological indicators to quantify workplace exhaustion and deliver real-time interventions
MakuSafe Wearable Tech: Wearable and analytics platform detects and predicts fatigue-related strain through motion sensing and environmental monitoring
Predictive Safety SRP, Inc.: AlertMeter and AlertMeter FRMS assess worker alertness and provide predictive fatigue risk management tools
Pulsar Informatics: Fatigue Meter predictive analytics platform, originally developed from NASA technology, integrates wearable data, sleep tracking and alertness assessments
SmartTec Inc.: Okaya AI-driven platform extracts digital biomarkers from brief video check-ins to detect fatigue in real time
MākuSafe was named 2026 Work to Zero Safety Innovation Challenge Winner.
SOBEREYE Inc.: OPTOVERA smartphone-based assessment measures how eyes respond to light to help determine fitness for duty
Vocadian: Predictive voice AI solution that analyzes voice biomarkers and circadian science to forecast fatigue risk in safety-critical roles

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the most prevalent workplace injury, affecting nearly one-quarter of the world’s population. The 2024 Safety Innovation Challenge identified MSD concerns challenging organizations and emerging technology providers to identify solutions. This year’s six finalists were chosen to highlight emerging technologies in the form of wearable sensors, exoskeletons and computer vision at the 2023 NSC Safety Congress & Expo.
