NSC Distinguished Service to Safety Award is the most prestigious award given to individuals by the National Safety Council. Since 1942, the award recognizes outstanding service and contributions to the field of safety. Candidates are nominated by the general public and NSC members, and reviewed by NSC Division committees. Candidates must have had a sustained impact on the safety movement at the local, national or international level that resulted in increased injury prevention. This may also include advancement of safety theory and research.

Mike Hill Mike is the safety director at Performance Contracting Group. Throughout his tenure he has led innovative solutions and created a culture in which everyone values safety. At his organization Mike launched a platform that helps conduct over 60,000 monthly safety inspections, developed a safety training program for frontline supervisors and helped prevent head injuries by replacing hard hats with helmets. Mike has served as the Construction and Utilities Division chair with NSC and was a 2014 Rising Star of Safety. | ![]() |
Mei-Li Lin, PhD Dr. Mei-Li Lin is the senior vice president of digital services and strategic partnerships with DEKRA. She is not only a safety hero, but a National Safety Council legend. A former employee, she created the Campbell Institute and was instrumental in creating the Robert Campbell Award. Barry Logan, PhD Dr. Barry Logan serves as senior vice president and chief scientist at National Medical Services. A pivotal figure in forensic toxicology for over three decades, he has significantly enhanced our understanding of how drugs and alcohol impact the human body. His work has helped improve safety at work and on the road. A winner of numerous awards in his field, Barry has also helped shape national drug policy and safety practices. The Distinguished Service to Safety Award was first presented in 1942 to recognize individuals and companies who significantly supported U.S. workers during World War II by reducing occupational injuries.
