The U. S. Steel Corporation Safety First Scholarship Endowment ensures that safety remains at the heart of every workplace, today and for generations to come.

The U. S. Steel Corporation Safety First Scholarship Fund will be established as a permanent endowed gift at the National Safety Council, creating a legacy that supports rising safety leaders in perpetuity. This enduring fund will generate annual distributions dedicated to empowering individuals pursuing careers in safety — those who exemplify an unwavering commitment to the Safety First principle and uphold the highest standards of conduct. In 1908, U. S. Steel Corporation coined the mantra Safety First, which remains a primary core value for their organization today. U. S. Steel Corporation believes every employee deserves to return home safely each day and works diligently to make injury-free work environments a reality, combining physical and psychological safety to take a 360° view of their workplaces. 

Through the U. S. Steel Corporation Safety First Scholarship Fund, NSC and U. S. Steel Corporation will honor the Safety First Scholars each year at a premier NSC event through a special presentation celebrating U. S. Steel Corporation’s remarkable legacy of safety leadership. This moment will spotlight the next generation of professionals who are embracing the Safety First pledge, with U. S.
