The Alive at 25® course has undergone a major transformation in its 5th Edition to improve the delivery approach and update content based on input from instructors and other key stakeholders. In addition, NSC conducted a series of focus groups with drivers under the age of 25 to learn about their preferences for videos and training content. The focus group input informed our approach to key activities and content, as well as the design of the course videos.

● New terminology: “sessions”' will now be known as “modules” and “course guide” will be “participant workbook”
● New course materials: Downloadable instructor guide and test overlay
● All videos updated with new visuals and audio, and housed within a downloadable, online multimedia with easy navigation
● New activities and interactions throughout the course, including optional Kahoot! activities, as well as updates to the quiz game and multitasking activities
● Instructor manual, participant workbooks, downloadable multimedia and test overlay – all with a new look and layout
● New instructor manual will deploy a DO-SAY-ASK format to make teaching more convenient for instructors, available both in print and online format
● The multimedia is a downloadable file and includes embedded menus and videos
● The course is still four, 60-minute modules followed by a final test: Modules 1 and 3 end with a 5-minute break, Module 2 ends with a 10-minute break and Module 4 includes 10 minutes for the final test
● A downloadable test overlay can be used to grade the end-of-course tests has been added

Will I receive a USB or DVD?
No. Multimedia will only be available through download from the LMS. We will not be producing USBs or DVDs.

What if a new instructor starts with the 4th edition right before the transition?
Any new instructor who purchased Alive at 25 4th ed Instructor IRK + eLearning within the 90 days prior to the transition start date of Nov. 3, 2025, will receive their 5th ed IRK and transition webinar at no charge. Please be sure to reach out to your local chapter or training center to receive the transition materials.

Can I still transition after March 31, 2026?
Yes! You can still transition after March 31, 2026. The Instructor Resource Kit (IRK) will be at standard catalog pricing.
What happens if an instructor does not transition by March 31, 2026?
After the transition period has ended any instructor that has not transitioned will need to pay the full price to transition through June 30, 2026.
On July 1, 2026, instructors who have not transitioned will have their Alive at 25 4th Edition credential terminated.

No, instructors cannot share Instructor Resource Kits. Each instructor must have their own kit.

No, DDC-Alive at 25 4th Edition participant workbooks are not eligible for return or refund.
What if I have a lot of 4th Edition workbooks left? Can I still use them?
Yes, you can transition to the 5th edition and still teach the Alive at 25 4th Edition while utilizing your 4th Edition workbook inventory. Please be sure when you present the 4th Edition you are using that instructor manual, multimedia and workbook. You cannot mix both 4th and 5th edition learning materials.

Instructor candidates must purchase and successfully complete the DDC Alive at 25 5th Edition Instructor Development Course (IDC) to become an instructor. New DDC Instructors receive a one-year Instructor credential when they complete their IDC.
