Leigh Herald is an accomplished safety professional with almost three decades of experience in risk management, safety training and program development. She has been teaching National Safety Council programs since 2004, leading initiatives to enhance workplace safety, reduce risk and promote a culture of prevention across diverse employee groups within the Chatham County Government.
Leigh holds both the Associate Safety Professional and Certified Safety Professional credentials from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. She is an OSHA-authorized General Industry trainer and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Her work has been recognized nationally. She received the prestigious Beverly M. Whitehead Award for her teen driver safety initiatives and the National Safety Council's 2018 Instructor of the Year for Defensive Driving (DDC6). She also has served on the NSC Defensive Driving Course International Advisory Committee and is chair of the NSC Government and Public Sector Division.
