In support of the mission, Noreen leads the National Safety Council communication strategy with a focus on stakeholder engagement and brand. She joined NSC in January 2022 as Director of Communications.
Noreen brings extensive experience in public affairs and strategic communications, having held leadership roles in the public sector and nonprofit organizations throughout her career. Prior to NSC, she served as the FEMA Incident Management Assistance Team External Affairs Officer, playing a crucial role in coordinating public information strategies during disaster response efforts, including Hurricane Laura and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Her professional experience includes two decades within the healthcare sector, most recently serving as Director of Public Affairs at Cook County Health, the nation’s third largest public health system. Prior to that, she was Director of Public Affairs and Marketing at Advocate Health and Endeavor Health, using communications to foster a culture of safety. Noreen began her career at Misericordia, a community of care that maximizes potential for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities.
Noreen holds a Master of Science in Managerial Communication from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Marketing, from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. She lives in Chicago and serves as a Commissioner and Board Member of the Uptown Special Service Area.
